Criterion text
The refrigerant used in professional upright and counter refrigerators and freezers, combined cabinets, and serving counters shall have a maximum global warming potential (GWP value) of ≤3.
Verification
The supplier shall, upon request, be able to present any of for example the following:
- The product information sheet for the refrigerant, or a reference to a website containing information about included refrigerants, in accordance with Commission Regulation (EU) 2015/1095 with regard to ecodesign requirements for professional refrigerated storage cabinets, blast cabinets, condensing units and process chillers. The refrigerant and its GWP value shall be stated.
Proposed follow-up
Follow up by requesting information about the refrigerants that have been used from the supplier and by checking that the GWP values are specified and meet the limit stated in the requirement.
Information about the criterion
GWP stands for "Global Warming Potential" and is a measurement of the capacity of a greenhouse gas to contribute to the greenhouse effect and global warming. The GWP value can be used to calculate the carbon dioxide equivalent emissions for each respective gas.
